This is beautiful, Aubrey. You tell such beautiful stories.
I already have thought about how I'd love to be able to walk along an empty beach this summer. I haven't been to the shore since the summer of 1989 or 90...sheesh. And only the Jersey shores are within driving distance to me, so they're too crowded right now --- but I'd love to be able to drive to the shore very very early one morning and walk the beach before all the tourists hit it --- watch the sun come up and watch the gulls --- feel the ocean lapping at my feet --- look at the treasures on the beach. This post really makes me want to do that all the more.
Lovely lovely lovely.

Have a good day, Aubrey.

Aubrey, your writing is glorious here. It is rich and evokes emotions. I wouldn't change a thing. Lovely!!! I have so many favorite lines and images, I cannot list them. Thank you.

"It was low tide: the ocean had pulled back her skirts the color of tears; the hem of her frothy petticoats teased and played across a shoreline dappled with footprints."
Wonderful.
